Love at First Bite

Sis made the mistake of smelling

Yeah, it’s that good.

My Australian blogging buddy, Baz over at The Landy has often posted about his love for Vegemite (which apparently is a national treasure Down Under) which piqued my curiosity as I’d never heard of the product. Because Baz and his family rock, they sent me a package of Vegemite and Bundaberg rum (think Baz knows me well or what? I could NOT wait to tear into the rum which was quite delicious, giving my Captain a run for its money).

blah

Welcome to America!

Baz cautioned that you put a very thin layer of Vegemite on a piece of toast or cracker – and also mentioned that this Australian potion was a fantastic hangover cure (again, knows me well!).

blah

The prep.

I recruited my extremely hesitant (we’re Midwestern and into bland food!) sister into being a taste tester alongside moi (she made the mistake of smelling the Vegemite first, therefore causing her to drag her feet all the more).

blah

If you want to up the ante, link arms to make shoveling food into your mouth more difficult.

blah

I jumped right in with a bite –Β  Sis tried a nibble.

And while I savored the taste, she was underwhelmed with the salty concoction.

blah

So you love it?

I meant to give Vegemite two thumbs up but only mustered a pointer finger (blonde moment), while trying to explain why I truly liked the Australian delicacy.

love at first bite

Finger up!

blah

American sisters, split decision on Australia’s tasty spread.

I’ve been living on my Vegemite every Saturday and Sunday morning since … it is quite the cure!

  1. You liked Vegimite? I never tried it..but I’ve tried marmite..and it was yucky!!! I guess its something you either love or hate..

  2. Alright, so WHAT is Vegimite and how did it taste besides salty? I’m somewhat terrified of it. Although the fact that you liked it says something and you and I both have fabulous taste in all things ridiculous, pink and glittery. Oh, and we love our diva cats. πŸ™‚

    • You got that right, Sister! Now, I liked it…I didn’t LOVE it. And, it isn’t something I will be spreading for the fun of it. I use as a prescription for hangovers…so that being said, try it at your own risk. Actually, I’ll let you know what it tastes like again (besides salty) after this weekend. πŸ™‚

There is nothing like a bit of after the night before remedies to quicken the senses, but then of course that would very much depend on what one was trying to achieve πŸ˜‰ lol

It sounds a nice cure but from some of the expressions shown here it could also be rather ghoulish too 😦 lol I need another drink πŸ˜‰ lmao Have a fun evening C&C πŸ™‚

    • The expressions do the Vegemite justice BUT sometimes you gotta do what what you gotta do after a wild night! Something about all that sodium that sucks up the hangover…

I heard of Vegimite many years ago, never tried it obviously. I would if I could though! Best cure for a hangover is not drinking… heh. Your team beat the Wings 4-3 in a stupid shoot-out, I despise shoot-outs!!

Holla at me!
