Addictive Blog Award

You like me! You really like me!

A BIG thanks to glitzgirlsglamourguide for the Addictive Blog Award!  The Glitz Girl Queen is addicted to my blog and I’m so thrilled with her problem!

I’m happy to know that I am not the only one in need of a blogtervention because I cannot stop reading the beauty tips (everyone go check out the avocado hair mask), recipes (that I’ve successfully tried – and if you know me, you know that is NO small feat) and the snapshots of clothes I lust after that are on glitzgirlsglamourguide daily.

Ting. Ting. Ting. (actually sounds more like a clang since it’s my fork beating against a Diet Coke can). Ahem.

And now for the moment you have been waiting for…my speech on why I began blogging and how I hope you become addicted (as if you weren’t already).

I started blogging because Teddy was sick and tired of hearing me talk to him (and lacks the ability to put his paws over his ears, poor thing).  But really, my sister encouraged me to start a blog about my life… fashion, parties, exercising, organizing tips, shopping experiences and how to live like a fabulous girl on a budget. She was such a supporter that one night after nine too many Skinny Pirates, we created a blog site…and I couldn’t remember the password for a year.  But low and behold, my brain cells united and here I type today. While I haven’t been at this for long, I’m in love with blogging, as it’s a creative outlet, makes me use my thinking cap and let’s Teddy get a breather from my constant mauling.

As you can see, my steady blogging has led Teddy B. back to his main addiction (and reason for every breath he takes) – sleeping. He could give two shits as I click away on my keyboard, accepting this award (but cares enough to lay right beside me). Cats!

So thank you fabulous readers for taking the time to absorb a little slice of the sparkly pink life as I know it! And if you’re read this far, it’s too late. You might as well face it – you’re addicted to (not love), me.

Sparkle ON!

The Fabulous No Thank You

I’m a card writer.  A proper, hand written, appreciation note author. I believe in the power of a thank you card – not a quick text or an email but a bona fide, old-fashioned, snail mailed card.  Although, there have been recent instances I’ve been unable to say thank you, let alone write a heartfelt one.

During my very lean times of late, I have not been able to muster so much as an eye gaze without welling up with emotion over the moments I have felt most gratuitous…the $20 bill a friend tucked under uneaten bagels before she left after a weekend stay…the $50 friends snuck into a birthday card….the money sent for a security deposit on a desperately needed new apartment….the 12 pack of Diet Coke left on my front porch for Skinny Pirates…the $100 you gave me just before your wedding because you were concerned…installing an outside motion light that you just happened to have at work…bringing a sack of groceries almost every time you come over… giving me gas money to travel the long road to work…seeing my full cart and buying everything in it for me…simple acts for some, yet invaluable treasures to me.

Sometimes a thank you doesn’t suffice – not that silence is better, it just feels that these gifts hold far more value than their monetary worth…and almost make my heart burst with appreciation and break of embarrassment over my situation.  So with that, I am throwing a BIG FAT thank you into the universe. THANK YOU! Next time, I promise it will be a hand-written note. I swear.

Naughty Betty brand thank you cards purchased on clearance at Target – $0.98 for a set of 8. Showing appreciation can cost next to nothing, so do it already!
