It’s the Liebs, not the Biebs.

That’s right, I’m not talking Justin Bieber I’m talking a Blogster Liebster!

The oh-so-fabulous D-Anna at Style Salvation  and granted sparkly ol’ me with the Liebster Blog Award.  A grand gesture of kindness and by accepting, I must relay five random facts about myself, as well as answering five questions D-Anna has asked yours truly.

Random things by Cowboys and Crossbones…

1) My favorite movie of all time is National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation.  My family (we’re so classy!) watches it every year during the holidays and it’s a tradition I anticipate right up there with Santa’s big night.

I mean, what family doesn’t have their very own cousin Eddie?

I love the movie so much that last year, I hosted a Griswolds (hence the Grizzie category on my blog) Family Christmas party.

This is my version of a crying Clark while he’s stuck in the attic and his arch nemesis of a neighbor, Margo.

And speaking of crying, I rarely cry. But when I do – I only have one kind…the ugly cry. The hot mess kind of cry. The what the hell is wrong with her kind of cry.  Once I start, I can’t stop.

Think I need to invest in waterproof mascara?

I have no recollection as to why I was being such a bawl baby, I simply remember how freaking hilarious I looked when I finally stopped long enough to look in a mirror. And of course, had to document the situation. You’re welcome.

3) I am really good at shotgunning a beer (even though I am not supposed to have beer with gluten intolerance issues but I can never refuse a challenge).

Once again beating my cousin Tballs in the annual chugging contest. Classy, I know.

4) One of my favorite Nashville pastimes is honky tonkin’ on Broadway. Robert’s Western World is home of two of the best Nashville bands you can see for free – The Don Kelley Band and the Chris Casello Trio. At Robert’s there is never a cover charge, always a fun crowd and they even feature a Recession Special on the menu – a fried bologna sandwich, chips, a moon pie AND a Pabst Blue Ribbon for $5.

Dancing circles around my dad at Robert’s.

5) Lipstick is the last thing I apply before any show.

Applying the reddest red before a show at the 40 Watt club in Athens, Georgia.

Party on Sunshine!

I am always on an exhaustive search, scouring for excuses to celebrate something. Anything. Well my friends, it’s a double whammy today. Not only am I raising my glass in celebration of my 40th blog post here on Cowboys and Crossbones, I’ve also been granted the Sunshine Award by my fellow blogger Finding Mindfulness.

This award is bestowed to those who “positively and creatively inspire others in the blogosphere” and I am never one to turn down a warm fuzzy. So thank you, Finding Mindfulness! I’ve been following this fellow Nashville resident whose passions include art, fitness, food, music and yoga to name a few. She’s never without an inspiring thought, so please go check her out!

In order to spread the sunshine, I will answer the following questions attached to the award:

1. Who is your favorite philosopher?

I’ve never been accused of being a deep thinker (blonde brain, yes).  I took a Philosophy course in college and it seemed like one big run on sentence to me.  However, my favorite philosopher would have to be my cousin Rhett.  He is the most thorough thinker that I know and whether or not you agree with his views, you will be compelled to listen to his reasoning.

The Blonde Brain and The Philosopher riding the Sky Glider at the Iowa State Fair. My favorite deep thinker read The Economist (which is why he’s a philosopher) and ate corn dogs while I was busy losing my damn mind at the cat show (Yes, I’m serious. I made him sit and wait on me. Isn’t he lucky to have Crazy for a cousin?).

2. What is your favorite number?

My favorite number is 25 – the date of Christmas AND exactly three months later, the date of my birthday (continual celebration).

3. What is your favorite animal?
  Cats! Cats! Cats!

I love all cats but specifically mine, Teddy.

5. What is your favorite time of the day?

When my head hits the pillow at night with Ted at my feet, I smile to myself because life is good.

 6. What was your favorite vacation?
As a kid, my family vacationed like the Griswolds…in our mini station wagon. When I was ten, we drove from Iowa to Colorado (about 15 hours with Dad behind the wheel)…where my sister and I received wrapped gifts every hour on the hour we were in the car by Mom, who was hoping to avoid the constant “how much longer” question (unwrapping fig newtons, crossword puzzles, candy bars – this was obviously before portable DVD players), where I saw no buffalo (as promised by my dad – he swore he saw one by the side of the road, then stepped on the gas so we couldn’t tell), where we spent more time in the car than out (convincing us kids that it would be fun to say we’d been to more than one state on our trip, we drove home through Wyoming, Nebraska, South Dakota and Minnesota) and where we almost died trying to go to the US Mint because my dad drove the wrong way down a one way street. While it most likely was a nightmare of a ‘vacation’ for my folks, the memories are fun!

7. What is your favorite physical activity?
While I should say running (jogging really), as I have run several half marathons and one full, I discovered hot yoga about six months ago and have become a tad addicted.

8. What is your favorite non-alcoholic drink?
Skinny Pirates minus the Captain equals Diet Coke. So that’s my forced answer.

9. What is your favorite flower?
I love Stargazer lilies. Of course, I love the name but also their fragrance.

10. What is your passion?
Music, specifically singing. Oh, and my cat.

I know, I know. I have such a small mouth.

And now…10 other blogs you should go love on!

There are some rules to the nomination:

1. If you are nominated, blog a post linking back to the person/blog that nominated you.

2. Answer some questions, nominate ten fellow bloggers and link their blogs to the post!

3. Comment on your nominees’ blogs to let them know you’ve nominated them.
